said by prestonlewis :Why Sipgate? Free incoming calls. If you have Google Voice and aren't happy with the reliability of Gizmo, you can't point Google Voice towards your Sipgate number and it's a free incoming call. I called my SIPGate (US) number from my GV and the audio quality on the call wasn't bad, except it had a noticeable latency! Unless GV has a problem to SIP URI to a G5 account and doesn't support an open SIP URI forwarding, I will definitely stick with this route.
If you use Google Voice to initiate a call and have it ring your Sipgate number, the outgoing call would also be free (since Google calls into your Sipgate number). Are you sure that the minutes on the call aren't deducted from the 300minutes/day allowance?
However, setting up a standard Linksys PAP2 wasn't that easy until I figured out their help page settings for it. For me, it is as simple as configuring a PAP2v1 for a Gizmo5 account. As a matter of fact, I took my PAP2v1 configured to a Gizmo5 account, replaced the Gizmo5 information with the information from my SIPGate (US) account, and my PAP2v1 registered just fine to service the I/O calls with no problems. Since then, I just put back my Gizmo5 account on my PAP2v1 and added a channel on my asterisk system to register to a SIPGate server with no problems to service I/O calls. -- Mazilo always prays for FREEBIES!
