Re: Latency Issues i am also in iraq atm but i thankfully only have 3 months left of my tour. I looked up a few things and even tried the different packet routing software and i run a half decent laptop one of the 17'' gateway fx's and i am usually around 1000ms when there isn't much traffic on my network. When people start doing video chat and downloading even a song or two it will easily jump me up into' the 2000 range and much higher if people start doing some serious stuff. I have been literally sitting at like 900 latency and then all of a sudden hit up to 26,000 in a matter of seconds from people using p2p programs and stuff that not only receive's a good amount of data but also send it.
All i can say is learn to live with it. I raid as a rogue consistently with latency up to 2000 and i even tank naxx 10 on my paladin when i'm around the 1500 range or lower. Once you get used to it you won't notice it quite so much as you do now. Let your guild know what your latency is and that it could go to crap at any moment and if they are good folks then they will let you do your best untill you get home. I have been into uld 25 and i can pull 3k dps even with 3000 latency on boss's and i do a lot better whenever i'm not lagging so much and average out around 5k for 25 mans, more or less depending on boss and fight.
I choose to level up my paladin while i was bored sitting over here and to just farm stuff in the mean time. All i can think of is make sure you have as many addon's turned off as you can and that might help a little bit since you already have your graphics turned down all the way. Just make sure to keep "projected texture's" turned on i think thats what it is... or you will not see some of the bad things you need to not stand in and also won't be able to see paladin consecrate and stuff like that.
Push through it and i wish you good luck as i know when we finally get home to our "lagging" 300ms it will feel godly and we will want to cry from joy that our instant cast spells really are instant cast! |
