As for Trendnet, it may not be the case anymore but the g card I have in my laptop has run well, but there were driver issues from the start that the manufacturer had no interest in fixing. Trendnet's attitude seemed to be that it was time for me to upgrade. I had to find the hardware manufacturer's driver and it still runs well today. No thanks to Trendnet. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it was still supported but Trendnet withheld that information. With that sour taste that may well be the last Trendnet item in my system. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours!
The only issue is Buffalo doesn't offer any N laptop cards just USB adapters. My girlfriends laptop doesn't seem to like USB wireless adapters. We tried a couple different Linksys (currently running a WRT54G router) and her connection only got stable when I put a card (Belkin) in.
