<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1056836"><b>ravencajun</b></A> : I have had hotmail, yahoo, gmail, gmx and a few others most for many many years, I like gmail but do not use it as often as some others because I get so much spam, each day the spam box has hundreds of emails that I delete.  Amazingly my hotmail gets the least spam of any of them, on average maybe one or 2 a day is about it and they are always filtered to the junk file.<br><br>I wish my gmail was different and did not have the spam problem I would prefer to use it since I like to use thunderbird especially with my linux  boxes and gmail works well with TB.<br><br>the yahoo rarely ever gets used, I do like what they have been doing  with gmx, they are definitely listening to their subscribers and their forums are quite helpful.<br><small>--<br>Registered Linux user:476595</small>]]></description>

I created an account about then and GMail required me to provide a cell phone # to send a confirmation to. I easily configured gmail on my The Bat! client. As far as this client, i been using it for around 10 years and i love it, way better than ms outlook.<br>I also have dreamhost, but it makes no sense for me to make some of my domains as my main email addresses because i have no plans on resigning with dreamhost once it expires in december. I guess i will stick with gmail forever. I loved cox though... but as soon as i canceled their services, i lost all my email accounts.<br><br>thanks once more.<br><br>p.s does gmail limit the size of attachments? Cox had it at 10 or 15MB i think.]]></description>

With that behind me, I have to agree that GMail has the best Spam Filtering I've seen.<br><br>I regularly use them to filter my clients that are heavily abused, by allowing Gmail POP/IMAP access and/or POP retrieval and Sending Email as Alt Account.  The only downside is that only Google decides how often to fetch the mail from the primary POP server.  That can result in a delay; sometimes a half hour.<br><br>FYI: GMail requires a text message to a cell as part of the signup process now.<br><br>I also have accounts at box.az when they were handing them out like candy.  I've set up several with common first names.  Alas they restrict signups to Azerbaijan IP addys now.<br><br>I have a hotmail account that predates MS's ownership by 2 years.  I grudgingly have a Yahoo! account that I use for certain Yahoo! groups.  (My Yahoo! sig links to sites that cover Yahoo! turning over IP info to the Chinese government that resulted in imprisoning/torturing non-violent dissidents.  Every email I send includes the info.)<br><br>I also have accounts on domains that I am responsible for.  I use them for support issues, device notifications and the like.<br><br>I just registered my personal name as a .net and .com, so I'll be adding more email accounts soon.<br><br>NV<br><small>--<br>In my perfect religion, a giant hole appears and sucks up all the lousy people.<br>I call it the Crapture.</small>]]></description>

For now with google apps you can use a domain name to set up your own free email up to I believe 50 users thru them. If google apps disappears or starts charging can just take your domain elsewhere and set it up maybe for free or a small charge. Thing is you will never lose your email names as long as you remember to keep your domain registered. <br>If you really become good you could always set up your own server later instead of using google apps to host or someone else. ]]></description>
