Re: Upgrade to DIR-655...

It's not as nice as a real printer server or a real NAS, because it's really just a remote USB port. You have to have a client program on your computers, and only one can be assigned to it at a time.

Folks,
I have the DI-624 and it has been several years now and has been very good to me...but...I'm thinking about upgrading...

What is interesting about the 655 is the ability to hook up USB devices, such as a printer, and therefore, convert a standard USB printer to a home "network" printer....I believe I have that right...Has anybody utilized the 655 this way, be it a printer or an external USB hard drive?

All I know is I purchased the Belkin F5L009 USB Network Hub and it sucked! Maybe it was the DI-624, I’m not sure (didn’t have the patience to find out), but the Belkin was sporadic with its connection…it was very frustrating to say the least…

Anyway, I’m thinking about the 655…any others I should be looking at? Keep in mind, I’m not looking to break the bank, but upgrade gradually….

Thanks
KMN
