Well just returned from Networkers...
Somewhat disappointed...
Yes, the seminars were excellent (if you know how to pick the correct ones), only one did I leave from when he started explaining how to install a default route on a 2000 level class, then again I think all my others were 3000 level.
Cisco either got cheap and turned this into another profit center or simply didn't get the attendance they had hoped for and had to cut expenses
Gripes -
1) Wireless sucked, I would be embarrassed if I was cisco, dialup would have been faster and more reliable.
2) handouts were no longer provided on paper (that stopped a few years ago) but they also were not provided on a thumb drive like last year, you were supposed to download them. See complaint #1
3) Food? not only tasteless, there was a poor selection, yes I don't go for the food but when you have 30 min for lunch and the keynote runs over and your class is the other side of the convention center (outside and across the street) you obviously don't have much time to eat, it would be nice if the snacks offered consisted of more than rice crispy treats. (yes those were the snacks on Thursday Morning!) Usually the snacks were gone by the time I got out of the classes.
4) the customer appreciation event... I admit I'm not a fan of Devo, I only know one of their songs but is it necessary to book Devo, B-52's, Tears for Fears, The Bangles and ??? along with Martha Quinn as the MC? No wonder there was no money for the rest of the event.
Cisco you can do better! -- It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine |
