| Erratic 3G service
This is not a rant at AT&T.
Recently, after upgrading to a 3GS from a 3G, I have had so many problems with texts not going through, and call faileds. It seems like every phone call I make has to be redialed at least 5 times before it goes through, the same with texts. Google reveals this is a widespread problem, but is there a solution? |

| reply to way2evil As the Verizon commercials say, if you're in a 3G dead-zone, you might as well blow your brains out.. ..options: Disable 3G and use EDGE OR Take it back to the Apple Store and tell them it's broke OR Take back the 3GS phone before your 14 day right-to-return expires and get your money back.. |

I'm not in a 3G dead zone. I get full strength 3G bars, but it is very eratic lately, like the signal will just drop from 5 to 0 and say searching... then go to 3 and then back down to no service. Its really weird. I'm going to the Apple store monday to get it swapped out, I'd sooner them just fix it but I have a feeling there is no solution. |

I have a similar problem. Seems like if I lay my phone flat or have it on a docking station I have 4-5 bars in my house. As soon as I pick it up it drops to 1 bar, it is very strange. I did not have this issue pre 3.0. |

| reply to way2evil I have no issues with 3.0 on my 3G. I would make a reservation at the Genius Bar and try and get it replaced. I hope this issue doesn't reappear on the 3GS... -- Follow me on twitter!

I can hold my phone completely still and watch it jump all around...5 bars...no bars...3 bars...1 bars...back to 5 bars...4 bars. I don't understand why the signal will jump around so much when the phone isn't moving around anywhere. |

My personal favorite is the 'oh you need a need a new sim card, that will fix it' excuse. Can't tell you how many of those i've been through because of this same issue, and guess what, it never fixes the problem! -- Women think they are clever just because they can fake an orgasm for a relationship, whats the big deal a man can fake a whole relationship for an orgasm!!!! |

We get variable signal strength. Some days we have 5 bars anywhere in the house. Some days we're at 1 or no bars. Was the same on my 3G and now my 3GS. It's just weird. It's a 4 bar day today. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.

On Verizon it was *228 option 1 or 2 to update the list of towers it sees. Was wondering if AT&T had that option as well. -- Play a Death Knight? www.theebonhold.com |

| reply to way2evil No problems here. I bit the bullet and bought a 3GS over the weekend at my local Apple store, and have spent about two hours on the phone since then, in various locales in my service area. I've not had a single dropped call and the data network is rock solid. You may have a local network problem. You should contact AT&T and ask if there's an outage in your neighborhood. If not, it could be your specific phone, in which case you should avail yourself of the return clause as noted above. -- Change.gov |
