pandora posted : One is a Linkstation Live, the other a Linkstation Pro. Both are gigabit capable. A large download which I do regularly used to take about 20 minutes now completes in about 5.

I upgraded the switch, plus my PC NICs.
--
"People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use."

pandora posted : Thanks to all who helped with suggestions while I was upgrading my LAN to gigabit.

It is very noticeable when running backups, or otherwise accessing my NAS servers. The speed I can access them at is almost as if they were local hard drives. I thought things were good with fast ethernet, but gigabit really has improved my ability to access these devices.
--
"People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use."
