i recall from biology class that the male drones have no stinger and i dont see one on the top guy so honey is a good guess. but i was also thinking they dont do this until early fall. and the colors look kinda off....but i'm no expert. i do recall there's usually only 40-60 drones per hive of 10,000 or so. After mating season the worker throw the drones outside and they usually freeze to death....cant afford to feed them all winter.

I should mention the scale- these were substantially larger than honey bees. They were more the size of bumble bees, but I have never seen bumblebees that look like these.
