Right now I'm tethered through my iPhone. Which, to get off-topic, is about the same speed as a 4 meg DSL line with 130ms of latency. It's pretty sweet. Of course I only have 6GB of data per month. |

GuspazGuspazPremium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC kudos:16 | reply to Cloneman The iPhone 3GS supports HSDPA, 7.2mbit. So I was testing at about 3.3mbit/s down and 330kbit/s up when tethered on my laptop.
Tethered to the desktop, the case and location is causing a bit more interference, I'm only testing at 1.2mbit/s down (and same up as before).
If only the iPhone 3GS also supported HSUPA then we'd get some nice upstream speeds too.
Either way, other than the extremely low bandwidth per month, it's pretty sweet for tethering. |
