You may well be right. However, I would never choose that bloated POS IE8 unless it was my only choice. FF got it right when they gave users options for the extensions they want to load. MS should take note.

Whew! One of the longest bugs I have read but I finally understand why that Mod said to delete IE temp files if there is a noticable delay when starting Fx 3.5 cold. The delay is due to NSS collecting entrophy by walking the Windows file system when Fx is first started. In Fx3, the files walked are not the ones walked in 3.5. In 3.5 not only do you have to clear the IE temp folder (if having problems with a slow Fx start) but you need to also clear Recycle bin (good thing I don't have 3.5 because I rarely empty my Recyle bin and I bet my start time would horrible), Windows Temp folder and others.

The bug is a fascinating read and all the big Mozilla developers are posting in it as this bug is high priority. There are Fx test builds available through the links in the bug for anyone who has the problem and is willing to test the various builds. There is a patch at version 3 already. Certain Antivirus realtime scanners are also apparently implicated in the slow start and before I even saw that one of them is Avira I thought to myself "I bet Guard is going nuts scanning all these files that are being walked by NSS" and sure enough Avira and Kaspersky are name as possibly contributing to the slow start. Avast seems ok.

I am so glad I didn't upgrade on my virtual XP machine to 3.5. I checked my recyle bin just now on that computer and it was gigantic (I did clear it) and my Temp folder was huge and I had a terrible time trying to clear it. Besides TIF in IE needing to be cleared, history is implicated. I never clear history in my browsers and that would have really ticked me off if I needed to clear IE history just so Fx would not take several minutes to start.

Anyone else seeing an occasional right click bug? A few times when trying to use the right click to bring up the shortcut menu to either save a page or copy text the right click doesnt bring up the menu. Have to restart the browser to get right click to work but then after serveral hours it stops working again. Right click working fine on all other browsers.
