| Wiring home with CAT5e & Coaxial
I just purchased a new home and I wanted to wire the entire house with CAT5e and replace the Coaxial cables as well. I was just wondering as far as coaxial cable is concerned, what would be my best bet for HSD/CATV? I'm not to familiar with coax so should I go to my local ISP and purchase the same cable they use? Would I be better off grabbing it from the web? Splitters are another thing I have no clue about either :/ Any advice on this? |

Until recently I would have agreed, but now that DirecTV has come out with the single wire setup, I'm not sure I'd see the point. I'd definitely run everything through conduit though, which will make it easier to add/replace cables down the road without the need to break into the walls. -- Intel Q6600 @3400Mhz/GA-EP35-DS3P/2x 2048Mb G.Skill/Seagate 750.10/EVGA 8800GT's SLI/Silverstone 850W/Custom water cooler |

| reply to knightmare Good deal.. I'll have to look into a media box.. What I planned on was.. Mounting the cable modem(my new 6120! yay!) and switch where the cable enters the home and use a minimum of 2 (good quality)splitters to get CATV to every room in the house.. It's a starter home, so it is fairly small; only 960 sq. ft. |
