| Can't open ports on PC even in DMZplus mode.
The Gateway I'm using is a 2Wire 2701HG-B. I spoke w/AT&T and they said that no ports are blocked on their end. They also told me that I should not set static IP addresses for any of my devices (I tried to do this first, but the router won't recognize it). So, I set my devices to obtain IP automatically, and set my PC to DMZplus mode. I still cant find an open port (I used yougetsignal.com). No, I do not have a software firewall on. Please, help. |

@sbcglobal.net | I forgot to add that the only problem I see is that my computer is "identifying Private Network", connecting to the network, and then "identifying private network" in an endless loop. |

@sbcglobal.net | reply to Chowder83 I fixed the "identifying" problem. I think the closed ports have something to do with my computer. |

| reply to Chowder83 What are you running on your PC that would be listening on a port?
BTW I have no trouble port forwarding or connecting to apache web server or sshd on a Linux box using a private static IP outside of 2Wire DHCP range. But that PC shows up as active on the 2Wire, so not sure why your static IP did not.
Note that although you use netbios name or IP to configure port forwarding, it remembers where to port forward based on MAC address. So even if DHCP changes the IP, the port fowarding should still work.
But for the same reason you might have trouble port forwarding though certain bridges or bridged router, because the 2Wire may see the MAC of the bridge instead of fhe server (unless the bridge clones the MAC behind it). |
