Signed up for the Blast! (16/2 w/ PB) plan. At off hours I get 7.5/1.5, but most of the time I get 4.5/1.
I'm using a Motorola SB4200 (very old and docsis 1.1, I know ). Should would upgrading modems help, or is the service just really bad here? I'm confused because it does get up to 7.5 at times, but then it is at 4.5 the rest of the times. Either way I'd like to get what I'm paying for and at least have 8/2 consistently.
Would a SB 5100 be good enough to upgrade to? Would a 5120 be better?
Thanks! |

| reply to eastbay did you get those speeds with that old modem previously, or did you switch modems? I just signed up and have had the same modem the entire time. but yeah it might be related to the modem? IDK, when browsing through I saw other people saying the comcast upgrade slowed their connection. someone more knowledgeable should answer, though. |

You should also check your modem levels. |

| reply to eastbay how do I check my modem levels? and it's strange - the modem says it's capable of higher speeds (or at least the advertised technical specs) but yeah I'll try to get a newer one to try out. any suggestions for a cheap, GOOD docsis 2.0 to look for? |

@comcast.com | FYI... Comcast has EOLed (End of Life) the SB4200 last year. Although the spec state is "should" be able to handle 16mpbs... it chokes! Replace it |
