I've posted before complaining about my isp. I'm really trying to avoid Satellite cause when I'm not working I do enjoy online gaming, not to mention work kinda consists of online gaming. I don't know what's going on, I just know for the past 2 months or so I've been calling my ISP almost daily. We've never really gone through any troubleshooting techniques because I try the only two before I call (reset ant/remove router).

From what I understand we've had the services from this company for a couple of years and the very beginning things were troublesome. My dad's company loaned him a bucket truck so they could place the Antenna high enough up on what seems to be something designed for this type of thing and after that, everything was fine. Signals were great, download speeds were good, no real complaints. I personally didn't begin to actually experience things until about last year just before summer started. My only concerns then were slow download speeds. My family had told me that as time went on, download speeds just went slower and slower. They'd call, he'd say nothing was wrong. Apparently there were some connection issues before as well. They'd call complaining that there was no internet, he'd say he showed everything was fine with the tower/ant so the problem was on our end.

Now things are a bit different I think. Our service has been pretty bad here lately for the past 4 months or so. Originally we had combined disconnects randomly and offline times with slow speeds. I started to call and complain, only to be told that either the info would be passed along to the owner or again nothing was wrong. Then oddly, i started to notice a pattern. Just about every single night at about 8:15pm the net would start to deteriorate. At about 8:40 I would have a constant level of high latency and disconnects that would go on for hours and hours. Most of the time, the internet would finally work and its same (bad) speeds but I'd get a considerate amount of disconnects that usually lasted until about 5am. At first I thought someone was on the network running torrents and it was destroying our experience but the more and more this happened daily at the exact time time and lasted for the exact time period, I started to rule this out. Then it started to shift as to when it'd do it. Sometimes it wouldn't do it on the weekends, or it would start on Friday and end Monday. During the daylight hours (at its hottest too) we'd have no problems or complaints, but 8pm-3,4,5am we'd have hassles. For the record, I unfortunately work during the late/early hours and get to do so from home moving back here from the west coast.

I called so much I finally started to talk to the owner. I'd tell him what i saw and the patterns and he'd monitor it. What's odd is on those times when I'd call, things would be fine. I remember one particular incident I called and that night nothing happened. What was great was that for 2 weeks we had no problems. I had intentions on calling him to thank him but unfortunately my time didn't always allow the freedom to call. One Friday afternoon I had to unplug my router and it started it all over again. I couldn't get a hold of them again until the next Monday. He said he made some changes, did some monitoring but didn't notice any problems but he'd keep monitoring. Things kept going the same way. At 8pm it would start 8:40 it'd get worse, the early AM hours it'd be okay again.

I kept calling but was getting no where. I was always told that "the connection between the tower and the antenna is flawless. you have a better signal/speeds than I do at my own house and I own the thing."--Said in jest of course. Download speeds had improved greatly. We went from (when i started using the net) 25-50kb to 100-150kb. Right now, when things are fine, I can pull about 215kb on quick vid downloads or large graphic files.

My latency in games averages around 240ms, which is kinda still high but not bad. It is wireless after all. Things of course change around 8pm. It'll go from 230 to 350, to 400, 800, 2400 (disconnect time), and up to about 8k. I use Ventrilo a lot not only for gaming (good day vent latency is about 90ms) and it skyrockets to 30,000 or more. There are constant disconnects at this point and on reconnects the latency is still there. Usually at about 11pm or nearly 12am the latency drops but stays at about 300 range on both games and vent. Of course downloads and web browsing is slowed too. What happens now is every 1 minute, every 3 minutes, or every 5 minutes the internet drops, starts back up, have great latency/ms, then climbs back to the 300+ range and then repeats. Occasionally at midnight or 3am the net has completely gone out for the rest of the night and doesn't come back on until 7ish in the morn. Recently I've called and he's talked to me and we've tried to see if maybe my cordless phone was the problem. That's the only thing new that was added that could have possibly gotten in the way. That night he monitored supposedly things started to get weird at 8pm, latency peaked up, i went and unplugged my cordless base and pulled the batteries out and latency went back to normal. All through the night I played with this. I'd plug the base up, watch the latency go up, no never reaching the high marks, and unplug it and watch it go back down. I was convinced that my Philips 5.8s were my problem. Next day came around which was a weekend so I couldn't call if it happened when it of course did. I tried calling the next week but no matter when I called no one answered until about Wednesday at which I was told that he (the owner) had been monitoring things and there isn't anything wrong with the equipment its got to be something local. Again about the signals being strong, etc. I asked her to have him just this once for me last time to just check the internet the tower's feeding instead of just the signals between the tower and antenna. That night I didn't have any problems until Friday.

My latest experience is happening currently as I'm typing this out to put on the forums once my net's back on. I'll attach today's PingPlog Screenshot so you pro's can have a look. On that (last)Friday I called just as they were getting ready to leave the office because again, my net was down and had been down for a good 5 or more minutes. She said I shouldn't have been down and she wasn't aware of any problems. She asked the owner and he said "no everything's working." So I asked her if she had internet there and she said "well ya we do, let me check" then she said "well no...we don't, maybe this computer doesn't suppose to have internet?" She again went through the whole "look we've done all we can for you. everything's fine on our end. The connection is there..." i cut her off and said "look. You're right. Your equipment is fine. I'm offline right now but I see every computer on your network including the pc right in your office with the printer's shared. I can print something to you right now if you want, but I can't browse the internet. Its obviously not the wireless connection that's the issue here..." She talked to him in the background some asking him questions like "well how is he not online if he can see our network computers..." and other questions I couldn't hear. Finally she got on and said "I'm sorry. We don't know. We don't have an answer for you." and I Said "okay" and hung up the phone. That's been it. Of course that night the internet did the same thing. Yesterday though, I had no real issues with the internet tho until about sometime after 12 the net went off twice for less than a minute total. I'd gladly take this happening every night versus what actually does.

So, any of you ever experience this issue? In particular, you WISP gurus out there. What could this be? I've excepted the fact that without having something legit to tell him where to start, this will never get solved. I can't talk to anyone else to see if they're experiencing the same problem because I don't know anyone else with the service. I have read 2 people complain about their experiences on this board as well tho.

As far as what equipment I'm using. I do know it is a Motorola Canopy tho not sure the model/type. There's ethernet coming from Antenna, down the tower its own, to a box on the side of the house, then from that box, around back side of the house to my room. I've run PingPlotter with my router being in the mix and without it. Accessing the 10.10.2.1 address (even when the internet's off) takes me to a HotBrick Load Balancer LB 2 login prompt. Oh ya and if I release/renew IP address I do pick up the IP address back up with no timeouts or anything (straight to PC or with router).
