| Prebait pest pre-emptive strike
So I finally got a garage but do not want unwanted pests in my garage. So far the garage is pest free but mainly because it was cleaned by the landlord before renting. So now my question is: Should I place ant/roach bait traps on the conners near the garage door to prevent the pests from invading deeper into the house? or will that just attract pests that normally would not consider making my garage a home? Basically will bait trap preemptive strike actually work or will it make the matters worse? |

| i dont know if a trap/bait will make it worse - but what i do is spray the perimeter and all the openings with some good ant-spray every few weeks. Only problem with that is you end up with same scattered dead bugs, but they are easily swept away.. |

| I use Ortho Home Defense Max (probably the same as you have) - with the pull-spray handle. I've been using it for years and it seems to work better than others with the different active ingredients for my main pest, which is Argentinian ants. but it also gets roaches, earwigs, spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, cats, and small children.. Forget about 12 weeks.. You might get that in perfect conditions (non-porous surface, 72F 24/7, etc).. You'll be lucky if you get 12 days.. But 10 minutes of spraying every-other weekend isnt bad.. |

| reply to tempnexus I never had a pest problem in my garage. And I never sprayed anything.
I think it gets too hot during daytime in the summer, and too cold at night in winter, for any self-respecting pest to settle there.

| No my garage is not AC. The only reason why I want to start the garage thing is that I don't want the garage to be used as a bug staging area for a coordinated multistage strategic attack against my apartment.
I really don't want to be Rico. |

Basically will bait trap preemptive strike actually work or will it make the matters worse? The traps won't necessarily attract them from the outside. They'll check out your digs anyway. They work on the principal that the pests come across them naturally on their hunt for food/water. Hence the instructions on the package to place the traps in corners or along the baseboards (their natural pathways).
They for sure won't have the time to make a home. Because they'll be dead! In my experience with home invading roaches, I've found the traps work very well. After several weeks or months, I spot one Roach, it means it's time for a new package of baits. -- 0111000001100101011000010110001101100101 |
