Re: Giving Customers More Than They Expect said by jmn1207:The problem is the people paying more money for the 20/20 plan that they might be contracted under. Should they switch to the cheaper 25/15 tier for increased performance of 25/25 or just stay where they are and hope that these "fluffed" speeds finally come back down to the advertised rates? It's not a problem. It's a unadvertised benifit that is not guaranteed and may disappear at any time. You pay your money and take your chances on what perks you might get. People can pay for 20/20 service and know that they will get 20/20 service (yes, i know that no speeds are not guaranteed...but just presume that they are for the sake of arguing). They don't have to worry if they can get 20/20 speeds today, but tomorrow they may lose 1/4 of their current speeds.
It would be nice if Verizon could let people know for sure what speeds they should actually be seeing. Just make the provisioned rates known is all I'm asking. If you subscribe to 20/20, you're provisioned as far as you know at 20/20. If you subscribe at 25/15, you're provisioned at 25/15. If you are at 50/20, well, you get the idea. If you get more then that, congratulations. If you get get just what was advertised, bummer...you don't get the extra fluff, only what you pay for. If you get less, then their is room to gripe.
I'd much rather have 25/25 than 50/20, as the upload is the kink in my armor, and what keeps me waiting around on Friday afternoons just wishing I could crack open a beer and log off my VPN. A 25% increase in upload may not seem like that much of an improvement, but to see faster speeds at a much lower cost would be significant, if only I could be certain that it would be sustainable and not drop down to 15Mbps in a month or two. I understand your delema. But you can't be certain. If you could it would be advertised (and billed) as such. |
