Which product are you talking about Java or VirtualBox? VirtualBox will install a network connection so that virtual machines can have access to the network your host computer is attached to. Java will not install any network adapters.

I believe the VBox Ethernet adapter on the host is only used by vitrual machines that have Bridged networking enabled.

When you create a virtual machine in VirtualBox, it defaults to NAT networking which I believe doesn't required the VBox Ethernet adapater.

This is probably why your seeing your virtual machines still work even with the VBox Etherent removed from the host.

Is there a particular reason you remove the VBox Etherenet after VirtualBox installs it on your machine? It has caused no issues at all on my machine.
