Re: [AZ] NFL package? said by Rob_:if you decide to get DTV get 22 inch dishes as they will allow more signal or 24 inch dishes. the standard 18 inches is too small. This is old information. If you get DirecTV with HD service, there is only one size dish they use anymore. It's a large dish that will see all of the satellites, including the ones that only have HD. You can also haggle with DirecTV for a better deal, especially if you have decent credit.
I have DirecTV and Cox Internet service. In Arizona you won't have problems with rainfade except during monsoons. Some things to keep in mind:
-DirecTV's onDemand is not amazing. It downloads shows through your Internet service if you network your DVRs. It only works on HD-DVR receivers. No HBO onDemand. -DirecTV has pretty good HD video quality, typically considered better than Cox -DirecTV installs suck, but once it is installed, it seems to not give much trouble, doesn't go out unless you have a severe storm -DirecTV will be launching another satellite soon to continue expanding HD service (should launch in fall) -DirecTV HD-DVR is much, much better than Cox's IMO (but still isn't perfect, can be really slow) -You can't run Cox internet and DirecTV on the same line. -DirecTV will require a 24 month contract for an HD-DVR.
Hope this helps you make a decision. I would call DirecTV, say you are interested in switching for Sunday Ticket (with Superfan for HD games). See what they offer, it'll probably be better than what's on their website. |

I used to have sat for video and never had rain fade even during the heaviest storms. only issue i ever had was loss of signal twice a year for two minutes due to increased solar storms/flares. -- When I gez aju zavateh na nalechoo more new yonooz tonigh molinigh - Ken Lee |
