| Rogers HiSpeed without cable TV?
I was trying to get an answer from a rep earlier today, but they didn't seem to understand what I was asking.
My brother has expressvu at his new place and likes it, but sympatico/other DSL is terrible in his area. Can he get Rogers Hi Speed Internet without cable tv?
There is no cable to the house right now. Has anyone initiated this type of order and what type of up-front costs are involved?
Any surcharges for not having Rogers TV?
Thanks for any info. |

| reply to latchkey If you can initiate the order with your postal code - that means Rogers is in the area and you can get high speed internet. If there is no cable - they will run the cable from the post. They will tell you upfront if your area is not being served.
I am internet-only customer, no TV - no problem. I think you can get some sort of discount by having both, internet-only you just pay the regular price. |

2 edits | There are some areas or so I heard that they won't give you any cable TV service without a digital terminal. Essentially that's what Rogers and other cable providers eventually want to force upon you but to answer your question there is still analog cable. |

There are still analog cable offerings in the US and Canada, and there is no requirement (current or upcoming) in either country to change that. Most digital cable packages still include analog channels as well, giving access to them on any tv without a digital box, and simply pass those channels through the digital box when there is one present.
There may indeed be areas that the cable service is JUST digital, but that would be solely by the choice of the provider. |

| Over the air service (i.e. where you need an aerial (aka antenna)) in the USA is now digital only and requires either a TV which is digital capable, or a set top convertor box. Canada's over the air service isn't going digital only yet.
It's up to cable systems whether they want to distribute analogue signals. |
