But I'm not really the guy to ask, for my knowledge is fundamental in that department of Unix.
He's using the crontab utility to schedule a few jobs.
"January 2nd at 5:40am, every year." 40 5 2 */1 *
And
"On the 15th and 28th of each month, at 6:00am, for the entire year" 0 6 15,28 * *
As well as
"Every (10) minutes, (24) hours per day, for the entire year." */10 * * * *
Does this look correct?
Thanks. -- I love fish sticks. I love putting fish sticks in my mouth. |

"January 2nd at 5:40am, every year." 40 5 2 */1 * "*/1" is kind of redundant. It basically means "every one of this value column repeated each 1 interval". In other words, "*/1" is the equivalent of "*". If you meant "at 1 and only 1", you should simply put "1" in a column. The "/" notation is generally when you want to set an interval count of greater than one. For example, if you wanted something to happen every other hour, you'd put "*/2" in the hours column. -- The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt. -- Bertrand Russell |
