Fibre optic

I know this might be a little out there but..

Will sonic ever consider using fibre to the home? Copper has its limitations? The last time I checked 40G was becoming cheaper to install and is good for metro applications i.e. short enough for dispersion not to be a factor.

Downtown Santa Rosa could be close enough for population along with San Francisco.

AT&T use a hybrid called Uverse; optical to the VRAD and then copper.

Good to hear this. Sonic+fibre optic delivery= perfect solution. I'd be more than happy to subscribe to this not that I don't like Fusion. I have a solid 8Mbits/sec download and 0.76Mbits/sec upload with US based customer support who know what they are talking about.

You'll also see Fusion at up to 30Mbps downstream shortly, with products headed toward 5Mbps upstream. FYI, lots of exciting stuff in the works.

Dane,
This is great news. Can I ask on details? Dual/triple bonded, VDSL? Prices?

You'll first see dual bonded ADSL2+. VDSL2 probably isn't the right platform for us because it's only better at very short distances.

Pricing is TBD at this time, we'll be working it up soon!
