| Hughes changed my DW6000 Modem IP address?? Odd?
Been going along pretty good. We have 3 users at home and use a static IP address and a router. Router was set to the IP of the DW6000 modem ( +1) of 66.82.222.85 This is the SYSTEM INFO when I go there, and the subnet of 255.255.255.252 I had always set my Router for 66.82.222.86 and the gateway of 66.82.222.85 and all was well. I could open the browser and type in 192.168.0.1 and get the DW modem.
Now this morning, no internet and I cannot get into the modem. 192.168.0.1 would no longer work. Tried direct connect my computer to the modem and still nothing. Called Service and they had me change my settings to Assign a IP address automaticaly (DHCP) and automatcially assign the DNS. Reboot computer and modem. Voila, I can connect to Google and some web called www.purple.com I try to switch back to the router and not so easy. Nothing happens, and can't get the 192.168.0.1 to come up with the modem.
So, I switch back to the DHCP and type in 192.168.0.1 after direct connecting nework cable to modem and am able to get into the modem and into other web sites. I happen to look at the SYSTEM INFO page and WHOA!! I see that now my IP address has been changed, sometime this morning to: 66.82.250.xxx Same subnet, but an entierly different address. It also changed the previous receive frequency from 1250.0 Mhz to 1110 Mhz and changed the receive polarization from Horizontal to Vertical. Router address also changed from 66.82.25.36 to the new 55.82.25.20
Why would all these things change? Once I got the right address plugged into the router for the WAN IP address the router began to get websites again. HOWEVER, through the router, if I type 192.168.0.1 I CANNOT get the DW6000 modem interface. Any ideas on why? -- Verns Taurus 45 website »Taurus45ACP.com »vernsdidj.com Didgeridoo info |

| I actually got a postcard in the mail from Hughes over the weekend, telling me that they would be changing my IP address in the timeframe of July 6 or 7. As of this morning, it has not changed. -- DW6000, DirecWay Small Business, Galaxy 16 99W, trans 1210, 3PC network, WinXP/2000/98, LinkSys WRT54GS. Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati |

| reply to vljenewein Same thing happened to me a few years ago. No notice, and it took me a little while to figure it why nothing worked. When I called Tech Support, they either could not or would not explain what happened and why. -- DW7000 IA8 1410 router: 67.142.137.146 fixed |.98 2watt | Small Office | Vista 64 Ult SP1) IE7.0.6001 |
