Re: I will admit ...

Yeah, CNN is milking this cow to the point that they're reasserting their reputation. Jackson gets a bigger frontpage spot than 911 every day since his death.
Even now, after it is said-and-done, look at the homepage.
This would be more correct...

The MJ coverage shows where the lack of priorities seem to be, and thats kind of sad. To see networks overwhelmed like that though would be an interesting study. This would also be a good time to look at how Time Warners network handled this. This would be a good assessment of their network to show thaat caps do nothing for congestion when everyone piles on at once. To the person below...I was just ranting because I was sick of hearing about a "pop" star that is being portayed as a great humanitarian.

If you think CNN has a reputation to destroy then your confusion should have been quite clear before I responded to your post...

It just that "reasserting" has no function in that sentence.
But maybe that is some Alabama vernacular...

Our priorities should be what now? Do we need the govt to step in and tell us what these priorities should be too? To preserve the sanctuary of priorities.

He was more than a "pop star"

Who said anything about gov't mandating priorities?
And what more was he than a "pop" star?
If your priority is Michael Jackson at a time when we're our soldiers are involved in a war on 2 fronts, and North Korea is trying to instigate a 3rd front, all while we're attempting to claw our way out of a recession/depression...then thats actually pretty freakin sad!~

Well said. So yet another celebrity whose last big hit was 20 years ago dies of a drug overdose. Exactly how is this "news"? If his private life wasn't so bizarre, I doubt he'd get this type of attention.

What really annoys me about this was how it took 100% of the attention of the world press away from Iran, at a time when world scrutiny may do some good. The ruling clergy there may be brutes, but they have asperations of portraying themselves as a legitimate government, and videos of peaceful protestors being shot in the streets don't help their cause. But the program directors at the news channels thought it more important to bring us Michael 24x7 instead. I'll cringe the next time I hear one of their ads proclaim them to be "The Place for Politics". More likely "The Place for dimwitted National Enquirer Readers".

I even heard one of MSBNC's on-air personalities dismiss complaints on a radio talk show with the comment "you don't like it? why don't you go spend time reading the Stimulous Bill instead?". 'talk about insulting your regular audience.
