I'm not sure what you mean. I've had the same phone number for 8 years and have gone from Verizon (copper, aka old telco landline) to Vonage to Time Warner VOIP, back to Vonage and now to Verzion (Fios triple package FIOS, VOIP PHone, TV)
I've moved from 2 different states (job transfer) over the past 8 years and have had the same phone number the entire time.
Are you saying you can't get your cell phone number to port to VOIP?
