Is it true that you need to subscribe to "the TMN package" to be able to access most of the On Demand programs (the free ones)?

the hell is that about?

I thought you only needed to scribe to TMN to get TMN on Demand, and subscribe to whatever various channels are out there to get their on-demand equivalents?

It's HGTV that isn't working. It's part of the base digital select package. Lots of other stuff works, but this chick in support that sounded like she just walked off the set of "Clueless" insisted I needed TMN to get the free on demand.

Sounds like you got one of the many incompetent people Cogeco now has working the phones.

Simple rule - don't like the answer? call back, you're bound to get a different one!

It is. The correct solution to my problem is to wait up to 48 hours due to this being a newly provisioned box. But we'll see if even THAT is correct.

BTW: why the hell does the hard drive in the 6412 spin all the time, even when the box is "off"? Is there a way to fix that?

because its always recording, even when its off

and 48 hours is correct. It has to start showing up as 2way and VOD enabled which takes a bit sometimes

recording what? It was doing this even before the box was provisioned and recordings set up.

doesnt need recordings to be set up. It records back like 4 hours of the current channel it is on, on both tuners. Probably dont have a spindown on the drive since after its provisioned it doesnt shut off

you can pause and rewind live TV, but it has to store it somewhere

It's also constantly updating the Guide, VOD info, etc. If you go to Settings, Setup, Cable Box Setup, Configuration, you'll see the messages streaming in. You can unplug the unit, but you'll have to wait for it to update when you plug it in again.
