•Make our communities safer. Removing marijuana from the criminal market would free up police time so officers can focus on violent crimes, property crimes, and people who drive under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or any other substance. Tax dollars would be used to incarcerate real criminals who threaten public safety. Regulating marijuana would also significantly de-fund violent Mexican drug cartels that, according to White House reports, rely on illegal marijuana for more than 60% of their income.
•Save taxpayer dollars and generate revenue. According to California Board of Equalization Chair Betty Yee, taxing marijuana the states top cash crop would generate an estimated $1.3 billion in new annual revenue enough to pay the salaries of 20,000 California teachers at a time when our schools are facing devastating budget cuts.

| reply to mers2 I routinely was herded aside on almost every flight I took from 2002 to 2006. It always happened, and I got to the point where I was flying in a tee shirt, flip-flops, and shorts (Commando style?) with a minimal carry on. I also sent any baggage ahead FedEx to my final destination.
I was never "told" I was on any list, then I never asked until late 2006. The TSA, although never admitting I was on any "list", requested I submit notarized copies of my birth certificate and other personal documents. They eventually responded with a letter stating I have been cleared from any "list" that I may...or may not, have been on.
I have only traveled a few times since then, and I am no longer "detained" in line, but I still can not check in online or at the airport kiosks. I get a "we can not complete your request at this time, please check in at the ticket counter" BS. (Where of course there are 10,000 other people in the terminal, perfectly packed in for a terrorist attack).
I don't know what it was that triggered Big Brother, perhaps something innocent, hard to say. I no longer need to fly for business (where I was flying business class), and flying has become equal to riding the MTA. I flew to Milwaukee for a wedding a few years back, and once the flight had leveled off, passengers started to break out sack lunches, and food they bought at the Burger King in the terminal...I wasn't aware that in flight meals had been discontinued for coach class.
On the flight back, I was surprised folks didn't bring on their chickens, pigs, and other livestock. It's a pathetic way to travel now. |

You sound like one of those elitist, rich guys whose taxes we should raise. |
