Laptop recommendation

I wasn't quite sure where to post this and figured I'd try here. I'm looking to purchase a laptop for basic MS Office work, surfing and I don't require a huge screen (~15" is fine). The one absolute criteria I have is that the laptop must have a lighted keyboard. Can anyone here recommend something for me?

Thanks.

I believe some of the Dell Studio series and of course the Macbook Pros.

Yes I would look at the dell studio 17. There are claims that the latitude E series have backlit keyboards but dell support seems to be confused on the issue and there is no such configuration option at the dell site that I checked. You can get a studio 17 for $650. The 15 didn't show this option and was only $50 cheaper for the smaller screen so I would stick with the 17.

There are not a lot of options for backlit keyboards and there is going to be some conflict between your requirements i.e. backlits don't come on the least expensive laptops, which is otherwise where you could be buying. I'm not absolutely sure but I think this is one of the least expensive options you will find.

NOTE: the nonlit is standard. You have to scroll down and choose the backlit keyboard option.

Hi,

If you can't find one that meets what you want you might want to consider one of the laptop lights that plug into a USB port.

I've got a Dell Studio 15 with a backlit keyboard and I'm so glad that I got that option. Much easier to use in low light situations, and when one has some visual impairments.

Yes, some of the Dell Studio series come with a lighted keyboard, and are about the lowest priced models that I have seen with this feature.

For basic MS Office work, a MacBook of any variety is vastly over-priced. Except for the lighted keyboard requirement, any $400 - $500 15.4" lappy will do just fine.
