It looks like Verizon might be staying in West Virginia, or at least just in the most profitable areas like Charleston. They're going to have some tech position openings soon and will drop the ones they have coming in from out of state, so that tells me that something will be announced soon and they will stick around after all.
All that the tech hires mean is that the PSC/PUC is requiring VZ to rehab the network before the sale to Frontier. VZ has been hiring techs here in WI, and the midwest as well to do just that. Once the rehab is done, and the sale goes thru, the new hires will just be laid off...along with all the "excess" workers Frontier will not retain.
