| Boeing 747 jumbo jet air tanker to fight California wildfire
I've seen this one in action on the news...It can lay down a line of fire or retardant and smother a fire better than three choppers working in tandem can. Plus it doesn't dive into the fire like other planes do. It flies straight and level over a fire and it's pressure tanks shove it down on the fire.
The nation's largest firefighting air tanker is available to fight Inland wildfires this year under a contract signed this month between Cal Fire and the Oregon company that owns the Boeing 747 jumbo jet. The air tanker can carry up to 20,000 gallons of water or fire retardant -- roughly seven times the capacity of conventional tankers -- and delivers its payload under pressure with about 50,000 pounds of thrust. "It's the only plane like this in existence," said Bill Payne, aviation chief for Cal Fire. » www.pe.com/reports/wildfires/sto···dc2.html -- »www.insidetheie.com/ »earthlogii.blogspot.com/ »vietaffairsvets.blogspot.com/

| Fire protection is something that they dont worry about when it comes to paying the bills. FEMA and other Federal Programs already funded for such programs will pay when the state funding runs out if it does.
The state already has funds set aside as bonds and federal matching funds to use. |

Once the fund run out that is the only thing we will be able to pay with Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggers issued Executive Order S-05-09, which mobilizes the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to secure and deploy the additional resources and personnel that are necessary to save lives and protect homes statewide from wildfires no matter what the cost.
The funds will be there when needed to suppress any fire or earthquake situation and as I wrote above, the feds will make up the shortfall. -- »www.insidetheie.com/ »earthlogii.blogspot.com/ »vietaffairsvets.blogspot.com/
