| reply to kalone Interesting words from giganews from their 50 connection upgrade announcement.
quote: in the near future we will announce a new service offering that will truly solidify our premium status.
I am very curious to see what this will be. It better be good or else they will have a very tough time. |

Also, look forward to some big news from Giganews in the coming weeks and more to follow in early Fall. Consider it a game changer.
I wonder exactly what else they have in store? |

I wonder exactly what else they have in store? There is nothing that Giganews could offer me to get be to pay them $30 a month for Usenet service. More retention? 400 days is enough for me. More connections? Nope, got more then enough now.
Giganews is trying to come up with "value added" features/services to justify their high monthly fee instead of lowing their fees to compete with other Usenet providers. Other usenet providers offer basically the same service for $10-$11 a month.
It kinda makes Giganews look desperate/sad. -- MS Security Essentials + Online Armor Free + Router/SPI |

I wonder exactly what else they have in store? I think a price cut would be the only thing that would impress me, supply and demand should tell Giganews that. |

It looks like they will still continue with there premiere image, so I will bet on some new value added service. Maybe they will release a 2nd version of that game they put out a couple of years ago? -- Block Accounts | UseNet Now |

| reply to kalone This quote is from an email Giganews sent a customer who canceled their service to join another usenet provider: quote: "We regret to see you leave us, but we want you to know that should you find that your new provider's retention rates/completeness are not up to the standard to which you have grown accustomed, then you are always welcome to return.
As always, Giganews leads Usenet in retention rates, speed, and completion rates. Please note that some providers offer a cheaper service, but they do not carry the same amount of newsgroups that Giganews does. Giganews currently carries over 109,000 groups. We advise that you check with your new provider to see if they carry all of your favorite groups before your cancellation takes effect.
While many of our competitors are currently upgrading their retention rates, we have a plan in motion that will upgrade our retention rate well beyond our current target of 365 days.
Looks like it may be another retention boost. With retention now of (soon to be) 365-400 days, who cares? 365-400 days will be plenty of retention for many many people at current price points. -- MS Security Essentials + Online Armor Free + Router/SPI |

| reply to kalone Hi All,
Liz from Giganews here. This is a small announcement compared to what is coming- and no it is not more retention- we will continue to lead in the basic areas so don't worry there- but at this point, is that really news? -
Look for a major announcement in about 2 weeks and then more to come in early Fall.
Game changer time.
