| AT&T San Diego, CA Changing Gateways Losing Connection
Hello.
Am changing out my DSL Gateway from a 2Wire 1070B
to a 2Wire 2701HG. Just hooked it up and put it's ac line cord on and had all green lights that should have meant that I was good to go. Could access the gateway from my browser OK. No net connectivity though. Took down my software firewall, re booted re power cycled the gateway and all that other fun level 1 stuff, no joy. Ran Gateway's internal Diagnostic test, all came up good including net connectivity and DNS resolution.
Called AT&T DSL Repair and to my sad surprise ended up in India with a level 1 who couldn't really help me though he did his best. He was going to escalate to a level 2 but in the process I got disconnected so hooked my 1070B back up and am up and running on that - and came here where the folks who know reside to see what help I might receive.
One thing that I am thinking COULD be a factor. Maybe this gateway needs a new registration URL as opposed to the old SBCglobal one that is in my current 1070B config. Since when trying to register it after getting no connectivity, it could not find the old SBC registration server.
Anyway, I am open to advise and would greatly appreciate any sage wisdom that could be passed my way.

I am not familiar with those devices; however, I am certain you don't need a new registration URL.
Have you double checked spelling, and username+password entries? Are you running PPPoE on the gateway?
P.S. Last I checked, San Diego was in AT&T West (Nevada and California), not AT&T Southwest (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas).

| Right you are on that. However, I did need a new PW as it was not taking my original PW and it was c&p out of 3 different PW managers so it was not in error. In any case, I just called AT&T Internet and got a gal here from the good ol' USofA who reset my Gateway password and we did update the registration and am now online with the 2701HG-B |
