[TWC] Thinking of switchng to back, few questions

I used to have road runner about 6 years ago before jumping to dsl, i am thinking of switching back

Questions

1)Are their caps on how much you can use?

2)If i were to get the 10mb plan with power boost what speed can i really expect?

the best way to find out is to switch to RR. i believe you have 30 days to opt-out of a contract.

Caps have not been instituted anywhere ... yet.. on Roadrunner service.

With the 10mb plan with Powerboost, you should expect a brief period of time initially during a download where you may see a little more speed before it levels back off to whatever the normal speed for that download is...depending on internet conditions and the server that you are downloading from.

Thank you for both of your reply. Looking at time warner cable, they mention 16mb boost, is that what the 10mb is just with boost or is that something different?

I am looking at getting bundle is there a forum for time warner cable where everything can be discussed at one time?

Boost gives you those speeds for XX first megabytes , What I would do is go to someones house who has road runner your friends or someone.. and check it out at night coz road runner in many places sucks at night. If it's 8-10 mbps . Get it!

Thank you for reply, i understand what boost is. What i am little confused if the 16mb that is mentioned on twc website is with boost or they have 16mb plan.? I have friend that lives in burbank and she says no problem. Granted it's about 20 miles from me so i am not sure if that is true for my area.

20 miles is quite far you could be on a different node

if it says up to 16 mbps this is without powerboost .

But even if they say up to 16 mbps if in your area there are heavy downloaders dont expect it to bee too fast so if your have a friend who lives right next to your or something ask him to do speed test at night =P

show us the link where they say 16 mb so we can be sure

My next door neighbhoor might have twc, hmm i guess i will ask him

here is what i am reading from twc

Road Runner High Speed Online
Includes your choice of Road Runner Standard High Speed Online (up to 6 Mbps) or Road Runner Turbo (up to 15 Mbps) with Powerboost™ service. it's 39.95 for 12 month. Am i misreading the 15 mbps?

I had thought that standard service nationwide was 10 megs down, but maybe I am wrong. And Turbo is generally 15 megs down. I would say that you are misreading the information.

They are not going to publish what you might see with Powerboost. Generally with my standard 10 meg service, I may test up to 21-22 mbps max with Powerboost. It usually maxes out at 15-17 megs , however. I think that those on Turbo may see 5 or 7 megs higher when speedtesting. I still view Powerboost as a gimmick that we can live without. What we really need where I live is better upload and so far RR is not budging on that.

Thank you for reply, i am coming from 6mb down, 608up so anything above that would be speed improvement.
