I don't know why I never did anything sooner but I have yet to finish HL2:EP1
For some reason the game will crash within 3 min the first version plays fine but the Episode 1 does not. |

| Post the error message for us to take a look at. You may also find more details on the errors by looking in the Event Viewer (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer). The Application log should contain some useful information.
Have there been any configuration changes (hardware or software) recently?

No changes all I did was download HL2 Ep 1 and went to play it and that's when I noticed it crashed. i'm still on the first level since I downloaded it off steam.

| I'm fairly confident they're not related, but I also had problems with HL2 Ep1, but they were related to my old video card overheating (HIS Radeon x1950). Played through HL2 like a champ, no problems whatsoever, but stroked out on Ep1 every time, near the first few minutes of starting a game.

Have you tried turning off some of the game's effects?

I thought it was HDR but I left all the settings on default for the system but I can try to lower them..
