Korro posted : I can say heat is not an issue with how my system is setup. Mine is on a glass shelf with lots of ventilation. I will be calling Verizon tonight when I get home as the box crashed again yesterday while navigating the DVR. The whole unplug and plugging it back in thing sucks! Colk12 I hope yours is getting better because mine is not. Have you tried calling Technical support yet? Curious how they handled you.

Rattler posted : It is possible that the hard drive is getting flaky, OR... Do you have the DVR in a cabinet? If so, there could be an issue with heat build-up. Sometimes there is an error code that appears in the display (e.g. "h5"). What they mean, I do not know.

I had a problem the other day. The box hung at the beginning of a playback and I got an "h5" code. My DVR is in a somewhat ventilated cabinet and the room was uncomfortably warm (the A/C wasn't working). I did the "unplug" reboot and opened the cabinet - things cooled down and all has been well since. Normally, the room temp would max out at about 10° - 15° cooler than it was on the day I had the issue.
--
Never raise your hands to your kids.
Korro posted : I am having the same things happen. Now that I am back from Vacation...I have a ton of hours to watch and catch up. If it happens again...which was daily before vacation I am going to call for a replacement. Having to unplug this thing all the time is getting crazy. Funny thing even if it crashes...it still records.
