Re: [DVR] DVR recording every show What if you power cycle the box, will it redownload new and corrected guide data? |
|
|
|
 | No becasue the data has already been locally cached on the DVR hard drive. Even if you power cycle the DVR it still has that data cached. The only way to fix this is to eaither wait until the DVR has to look for new data 12-14 days, or delete the series recording and then set up a new series recording. This effectively makes the DVR go grab the next 12-14 days worth of data for that series. Kind of a pain if you have multiple series recordings scheduled, but better than having to keep deleting multiple recordings over the next 2 weeks in my opinion. Personally I will be deleting and re-building my series recordings later this evening. |

 | Yeah, I have about 48 season recordings set. Granted, some of them are no longer in season ie) American Idol, but they are all in there. I think I'll wait it out. |

Powering down is not the solution. |

 | reply to djlandkpl This only works for shows that have been updated with New/Repeat. Modify the series recording to recall New and Repeat. Let the DVR update. Go back and change the series recording back to New Only and the repeats will drop. |

 | reply to djlandkpl This issue has been resolved.
MVSN Product Support has isolated the root cause of this behavior. An unexpected data change for program schedules that were classified as null were changed to none by MVSN Data Extract team. This data was ignored by the Interactive Backoffice and therefore additional business logic that handles the setting of recording flags was omitted.
It seems that this issue impacted mostly the "new" recordings that people were trying to record. There was a push that went out to all DVR's this morning about 3am EST. Unfortunately since DVR's hold about 14 days of guide data this patch wont take effect for 14 days. The fix for that is delete any scheduled recordnigs you have then reset them up and you will be fine |

 | reply to djlandkpl It's not fully fixed. Programs on DIY, Travel, Discovery, APL, and Discovery are missing the New/Repeat flags. |
|
 | reply to rendrenner Still having the issue. I unplugged my DVR for 5 minutes then deleted Burn Notice series on USA network then set up a new series only recording for Burn Notice and the DVR recorded a repeat episode. |
|
 | reply to djlandkpl Not only have I continued to have this problem after following the advice upthread and deleting some of the most egregious series passes and re-adding them, but I have encountered something that is perhaps more troubling.
After manually deleting repeat episodes for future days, the deletes don't stick. So, not only is this problem inconvenient but it also sometimes records a (deleted) repeat episode instead of another program that I wanted to record, despite my managing the series priority on the DVR.
I previously owned a DirecTV with TiVo DVR and never, not once, had this issue. This is beyond aggravating. |

 | reply to CA_Cable_Guy said by CA_Cable_Guy:This was due to an issue with Macrovision. A fix was put in place to resolve this problem 7/16. Due to the way scheduled recordings are stored on the hard drive for 14-16 days of data delivered the issue will not fully self clear until 7/30. You can manually correct this problem by deleting the series recording and rescheduling the series recording. If you do this it should no longer be recording old episodes if you have "New shows only" selected. Well it's 7/30 and I still have the problem, now when is this going to be resolved? |
|
 | reply to djlandkpl As of last night, still the same issue. To use an example, I have Burn Notice on series recording, set to record new eps only, and I see that it is trying to record a marathon of 10 repeat episodes all day on 8/1.
When the heck is this going to get resolved? |
