Millenicom is now a 5GB/mo provider. If you want unlimited, you'd best send in your emails now and see if you can get it. Apparently it's only for a limited number of people. -- Windows XP Pro SP3 / Windows 7 64bit RC|AMD Phenom X3 8650|Asus M3N72-D Motherboard|4GB Patriot PC2-8500 1066MHz RAM|EVGA GeForce GTS 250 1GB Ram Superclock Edition |

| I'll also add that, in this day and age, if the industry standard for this type of internet connection is 5GB...we are truly behind the times. We here all know that technology provides a hell of a lot better service than this, and even other countries that we consider "below" us have better service.
Don't tell me that it's because they're smaller and thus can deploy it quicker. That's complete BS considering the unemployment rate this country is seeing rise on a daily basis. Those people can be hired to do the work at a decent pay rate and get it up in no time. I'm one of those people. I know better. I've looked at the options out there. | reply to dMarks I just checked the sprint coverage map and I'm in the grey "roaming" area. The email I got from Millenicom said I'm using 5-10 gigs a month. Its funny because over in Canada they have a similar service by I think its called startek or something, anyways they can use up to 200 gigs for 39.00 a month! What is with the wireless service over here? Can Canadas towers be much different? |

@myvzw.com | reply to dMarks It isn't a matter of the labor involved, it's the money. And the wireless companies need all the money they can get so that they can keep buying each other out. lol In the mean time, I saw elsewhere that the U.S. ranks 33rd in broadband. |

| reply to dMarks I'm done. They lost a customer here. I'll just use wi-fi when I'm out and about. Having a measly 5 gig a month is not worth the hassle of figuring out what this company is actually selling. Getting their "unlimited" would be like playing Russian Roulette considering their reputation. |

A 5GB cap is just pointless with today's internet... You may be able to check email and look at a few websites with that, but dialup can do that as well!
I submitted the form for the unlimited account however according to Sprint's service map, I am just outside the area. But I have friends with Sprint phones, and they work fine here.... Who knows... |

Has the internet gotten the big wigs soo scared that the truth about them might leak out that they dont' care that our isp's are totally regressing technology here??? 5 gigs is total crap.. We might as well shut down the information superCAPWAY now and be done with it.. @#$! it all in a can..
If I ever do get a broadband connection at my home (landline base ) it will be soo regulated and nerfed that I might as well watch the boob tube.. |

| reply to birdwatcher I dont think many people at Millenicom know too much about this . . . . I've asked all day thru Chat, Email, and by Phone. No one really knows what's going on.
I did run into a Wireless Broadband provider online while checking, and they had a $69.99 "unlimited" usage plan. It was Cyberonic Internet Communications, Inc www.cyberonic.com.
So, does this mean you have to receive SPRINT coverage now to be qualified for the $10.00 "upgrade".
I use the UM175, and I'm hooked onto a Verizon Tower....
Does that mean Millenicom is still going to let people using the UM175 on Verizon's towers to simply pay the $10.00 for an "unlimited account now" and keep their equipment and that's it?
OR are we totally screwed now if we have the UM175 (meaning we're stuck with 5gb with no "upgrade" options".....
anyone got SPECIFIC answers to this "upgrade $10.00" offer.
Be good to hear from you. I'm waiting on an answer from Millenicom but who knows when that will take place.
A truly 'unlimited wiressless internet" provider is www.accel-networks.......but it comes at a price! $139.99 a month (but its considered a "business class unlimited" service. |

| reply to dMarks Unbelievable. Signed up about a year and 1/2 ago. Then they raised the rates $10 and said "but we are still unlimited and you have no contract". Not even a year yet since the rate raise, and you have to pay $10 more a month to get what you originally signed up for? That's $20 a month increase in less than a year.
What will their excuse be next year? Can anyone believe a word that they say? |

However, if you are in a Sprint coverage area then they can send you a CDU-680.

| reply to rustydog I don't think they are intentionally trying to rip you off. They are just having issues with their providers and have a hard time with transparency with their clients (in this case, failing to make specific policy public, probably in fear of losing potential clients).
The next step for Millenicom is AWS-1, which they said will call it "Millenicom Ultra", coming out in another week. It's a new technology, so towers aren't outfitted for it except in densely populated areas. The device is the Option 452, capable of 7.2Mb/s down and 5.26Mb/s up, according to Millenicom support.
I personally would feel much more comfortable if Millenicom set a realistic cap on this service. Something like 100GB per month would be a heck of a lot better than saying "unlimited". They will have restored my confidence if they create a sustainable, affordable service plan. This raising rates, switching providers, imposing caps on uncapped plans is just unfair to customers. |

| reply to dMarks Does anyone know what happens now if you exceed the 5GB cap ? Is your service shut down ?
And what cycle is used to monitor bandwidth usage ? Is it per billing cycle or per last 30 days of use? In other words when is your usage set back to zero ? |

| At some point your modem will be capped to what feels like 56K speeds. The only solution is to ship your modem back and have them replace it with an uncapped one.
The bandwidth cycle is according to the billing cycle, plus or minus a day or two (Verizon's bandwidth monitoring system is somewhat wacky). So it should be zero at around the 1st of every month. |

In the past, people who were "heroic" users got an email threatening to disconnect service if they didn't bring usage down to a reasonable level. Who knows what they will do if you just barely go over 5 GB, which I might do this month after downloading a Steam game. -- RIP my babys Buttons 1/15/94-2/9/07 & Beamer 7/24/08, Buttons, Buttons video, Beamer

| From what I've read, the people getting the disconnection letters are those who went over 10GB...
First you get a letter telling you you're way over, and what you're going to do to stay under . . .
Then if you hit 10 again, you're cancelled (you're on the "list)! LOL
I dont think a little over 5 is bad.
BUT, WHO KNOWS WITH MILLENICOM. they seem to change their policies quite often. |
