1 edit | Memory Stick Pro Duo won't read/format & locks up computer
I have a 16GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card. It just arrived in the mail and was working just fine.
I put it in my PSP and formatted it. Then I put some content on it, used it, and turned the PSP off. All was well. Later I turned the PSP back on and now it won't recognize the memory stick. I tried formatting it but, again, it won't recognize the stick.
I put the memory stick in my card reader on my Windows XP computer and it won't read it. It just locks up the computer.
I also tried this Memory Stick Formatter software from Sony and it just hangs and won't recognize the drive: »www.sonydigital-link.com/memstic···&f=MSFRM

@tds.net | grab a linux live cd like Ubuntu or the like and use the partition editor there to format it, if it fails there then the stick has likely bit it. |

| reply to Franz yes, a live cd is just that, an os that olads from a cd, it's slow as hell, but can be very useful, especially the ubuntu cd as it will easily let you read windows volumes and install programs to test various things within the live cd, everything you do in the live cd is erased on quitting it.
Some live CDs are made for police and fbi forensics and are made to only read leaving no trace on the hard drive at all that they where ever used |
