1 edit | Need to find the wireless password
I'm currently staying at my brother in-laws place. I need his wireless key for my ipod and he can't remember it. So he was going to change it, and he can't remember his routers login info. He doesn't want to reset it to factory defaults, and I'm boned with out it.
I can't just barge in and do it. So here is my idea. A wireless laptop is connected to it right now. Can I somehow pull the key from the laptop? It's running on Vista.
Router is a Netgear WGT624v4 |

Amazes me how many people don't write down this info and stash it in a low security place. About 10 nanoseconds of foresight. |

| There is always the possibility that he does not want to make his WiFi network available for other reasons, and is using a "convenient" lapse of memory to accomplish this. If I were the guest, I would not press the issue. -- AT&T dsl; Speedstream 5100b modem; Zyxel NBG334W router; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.11 |

Really, assuming that his BIL simply forgot his password, it would seem that for his own sake that he would want to re-set everything, so that he could establish not only a secure, but also an accessible network...after all, sooner or later, something will go kablooey, and he will need to know how to sign a computer into the network... -- Deeds, not words |
