Re: New tier

f you are close to downtown Nexicom can give you ADSL2+ on their own equipment "up to" 20 Meg with no caps or throttling.

Typical customers in the 1-2 KM range of downtown Peterborough are getting 14-16Mb/s with a few in the 18-19 range.
OMG! You're a shill for Nexicom! How dare you recommend a superior ISP on the COgeco forum?! OFF-TOPIC! OFF-TOPIC!

Oh no I've been found out.
Actually I found out about them by accident. In this thread.

Do we know if SOHO is supported here as well? I'd be interested to know if anyone knows what the SOHO price would be. I always seem to miss the 6pm time to call BUsiness sales, thus why I'm asking here tonight.

I should have said the equivalent Business package with this speed, I suspect it will fall between SOHO & Enterprise ? They don't show this tier within the business side of things. I'd stay with the business side as the main reason to switch in the first place was more bandwidth.

1 edit

Confirmed with Cogeco Support that at this time there is no option for business users to move to the Ultimate type tier for speed. I'd rather keep my extra 50GB bw cap than drop 50GB for more speed Hopefully soon they offer something.

Can anyone shed some light on which Docsis 3 modem Cogeco is officially using for this tier?

I'm also a bit curious with the recent speed upgrades if we normal users are on Docsis 2.0 now? As far as I know my Thomson/RCA DHG-535 is using Docsis 1.1 with the Standard package.

Hi, DOCSIS 2 only gives performance increases on upstream and I think the recent upgrade to standard was downstream only so no real indication of anything there.

Thanks.

Upload was increased as well, unless you are referring to the frequency?

Forward Path:
Signal Acquired at 507.000 MHz

Yeah the upstream speed did go up to 1Mbit on standard. The forward frequency that you posted is downstream (i.e. forward from the CMTS to the modem).

Upstream (return) frequency on mine is 25.296 Mhz and my downstream (forward) frequency is 447 Mhz right now.

Yea, I already knew that. It used to be around 100Mhz.

My download frequency is still 117MHz and upload is at 35.296MHz.

RF Parameters
Downstream
Frequency 117 MHz Power 10 dBmV
Signal to Noise Ratio 37 dB Modulation QAM256
Upstream
Frequency 35.296 MHz Power 42 dBmV
Upstream Data Rate 2560 Ksym/sec Modulation QAM16

I was just wondering since everyone received the upgrade that it must have been more efficient to be using DOCSIS 2.0. (as Ignite stated the upstream is improved, downstream's the same though so it is kind of meaningless lol)

You guys have a higher downstream frequency, a sign of things to come?

Still running 111MHz for forward here. I did notice that my SNR was above 40db. Never seen it that high anywhere before.

Airwolf -- ahh ok. Yeah, I noticed my downstream frequency went from ~117mhz where it was for many, many years to the 447 I'm now at. But this happened for me, perhaps a year ago. So it didn't happen at the same time as the speed 'upgrade' just now.

Maybe that isn't the case everywhere, but it was the case in Burlington.

That would make sense in Burloak, since they'd have to switch things around to make room for DOCSIS 3.

many areas are now up in the 400/500 range. My node in beamsville is 465 or 459 depending on which i sync to. Some are still going through the upgrades.
