Sony I-Link

I have a Sony Mini-DV camcorder(DCR-HC14E), which has the Sony I-Link connector, which i connect to my Firewire card via the IEEE1394a cable, which gives up to 400mbps.

Now i have bought a new card, which is a Belkin Firewire 800 3 port, which has the IEEE1394b connection.

So what i need is an I-Link to IEEE1394b cable, which i think i have found online, but what i need to know is this, will the kbps still only up to 400 ?, or will it achieve up to 800mbps ?.

If this is the wrong forum, please transfer me please ...

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it will be stuck at 400kbps.

Whenever I used a USB1.1 cable/hub with a USB2 device, they were stuck at USB1.1 speeds. And whenever I used a hub/cable rated for USB2 with a USB1.1 device, it was still only working at USB1.1 speeds.

It will operate at Firewire400 speeds, as that is what the camera is capable of.

Yep... Time for an HD camcorder.

I`m only using it for making macro videos, so that particular camcorder is a little bit of overkill.

I`m on the lookout for a HDD camcorder, rather than a HD one, as i dont have a HD monitor or TV at the moment.

Something like a 30gb with at least 60fps is what i`m looking for ...

Hard drive based cameras will suck down battery like crazy.
