 | Does Armstrong Block Remote Destop and PcAnywhere Ports? Does Armstrong block ports 3389 for RDP and ports 5631 & 5632 for PcAnywhere in their cable modems? I could not get either one of these programs to work with a Windows XP Professional machine. I have done this numerous times but never with Armstrong internet. I was able to get Logmein to work. |

 | reply to ginky4 Last I checked they only blocked basic ports like 25 (mail) and 80 (web). I don't think any higher (1000s) ports are blocked. Do you have a router? If so that is probably blocking it. Also, make sure that any software firewalls (like Windows' built-in firewall) are not blocking the ports. --

 | reply to ginky4 Remote Desktop and PcAnywhere ports are not blocked. You have to enable Port forwarding to your computers ip, IF you are using a router. If you also have a firewall, it must be configured to allow the server portion of the program to be able to listen for those requests. 80% of the time, the computer repairs that I have to do require the firewall to be reconfigured. |

I wanted to ssh into a home automation unit (hardly wasting copious amounts of bandwidth serving anything) and had to run it on a completely random high port. |
