Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830)
Brief Description
This tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. Microsoft will release an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month.

My 2 Vista Sp2 32 bit systems applied the following fixes. A reboot was necessary.

I got 971633, 961371, 890830, and 973346 on all three XP machines today. No restart was required. All installed without incident.

Thanks for posting.

On Windows7 I had only ActiveX Killbits and Outlook 2003 junk email filter. No MSRT. Doesn't Windows7 install MSRT or are definitions included in Windows defender definition release?

I did not get KB973346 offered. However, note if one applied KB972890 -- either the "Fixit" or manual workaround, then KB973346 will not be offered for Windows XP -- or applied.

Also note if one disables the "Fixit" then KB973346 will still NOT be subsequently offered. Read the FAQ's in the bulletin for further information.

Absolutely no reboot for my XP (SP2 and SP3) and 2000 SP4! Wow!!!

Anybody having to reboot on Vista?

I did the fixit for KB973346 but I got the patch also. I don't use WU though. I just read the bulletin and KB article and then fetched each patch from Windows Download site.

I got four patches on XP Pro SP2. Of course, I didn't get that malicious software removal tool...my fourth patch was the one for VPC 2007.

I didn't have to reboot!

I woke up this morning and Eset warmed me about the updates before Windows. I'll install them later today after work. But will monitor threads for problems like I always do first.
