1 edit | Zyxel 660 / Linksys WRT54G Torrent Help
First and foremost, thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this as I am at my wits end.
I am currently running a Zyxel EQ660R Modem/Router from Embarq connected to a Linksys WRT54G WIRELESS Router to run the internet on two computers and one Xbox360
I am trying to get this setup to run UTorrent or ANY torrent program but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I have been addressed with the following:
*Port Forwarding *Setting a Static IP *Bridging my modem *Configuring my DHCP *Something to do with UPnP
So, I have come to the conlusion that working from the ground (The Zyxel modem) up, I need to configure my system to be able to forward ports and make my computer able to Torrent while still having my other systems work on it (The second computer and Xbox)
If anyone can help or needs some sort of system specs, I would be more than thankful. I am losing my mind and everything I try just turns my internet off.
EDIT: I also just tried bridging the Modem using the "Switch to Bridge Mode" in the modem GUI and it just cut my net off after I restarted the computer. Ugh.. |

| When you bridge the modem you need to click the "Release IP" button, or there is a possibility you'll lose connectivity until a new IP is obtained. Also, since you're bridging it to your router, and not the PC, restarting your PC most likely won't make a difference. You need to either power down and then power up your router, or log in to it and release and renew the IP. That is done from the "Status" page of the WRT54G.
It should be quite simple after doing that -
Find out the ports you are using in Utorrent - to figure this out open Utorrent and go to "Options>Prefences" and then click on the "Connections" tab. It will list the port you are using.
Then (if you have not done so already) you want to configure your computer for a static IP within your internal network.
Then go to the Linksys router setup, go to the "Applications" page for port forwarding, and forward those ports to your static IP. Make sure you check the enable button, and then save. |
