Re: [DVR] DVR recording every show

said by usa2k:

I see it with "Bones", and I see that it does not happen with "Warehouse 13" (worked correctly) which I noted came on a second time, and claimed "new" in the description, but did not duplicate the episode on the DVR.
If a series program is tagged again as NEW, but there is a recording of that episode on disk, then it will not re-record it. That is the closest it comes to Tivo's 30-day rule. Once you delete that recording, it will re-record it if it's tagged as NEW.

I'm not certain how it handles untagged programs. Since they are often treated as NEW, it may work the same way.

Who does the tagging? Comcast, or is it some external process?

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it I do not think I've had two identical episode picked up. So its mostly Bones and various Law & Order episodes for me.

The tagging is done by the data provider, which is TV Guide. Comcast just passes the data on.

So if anything is intentional, TV Guide is party to it.
It really seems like TV Guide is just getting careless.
