Nesis posted : Going over that article helped me resolve that connection issue btw, thanks. I turned DHCP off on the Actiontec downstairs and set the ip address for it back to 192.168.1.2 from 192.168.2.1. I was playing with the settings a couple of weeks ago which is when I ended up changing the IP to 192.168.2.1 and re-enabling DHCP on it. It worked fine for a while.

[southeast] Trouble with bridge between routers connected via Mo

Nesis posted : I have an issue I hope you guys can help me with. I will start with an overview of the setup.

I have the FiOS 25/15 aka 25/25 package at home :) . I have a Westell router hooked up to the ONT via ethernet. From that router I have one HD STB and an actiontec router downstairs hooked up via MoCa to deliver an internet connection to my wifes machine via ethernet due to an unreliable wireless connection. If you need more details about this let me know. I will even throw together a visio chart if requested.

Currently my wife and I can connect fine and all video on demand and menus are being delivered to the STB properly.

Here is the problem Anytime I or my wife attempt to connect our work laptops to the wireless network or My friends drag their machine over and attempt to connect to the network (even via ethernet) they cannot pull an IP address. I have managed, with limited success, to get some of my friends connected by setting a static IP for them but this does not work all the time.

Both routers are setup for DHCP. The Westell that is hooked up directly to the ONT is set to issue 192.168.1.x addresses. This router shows the STB and my wife connected via MoCa and shows my computer connected via ethernet. Wireless is enabled on this router and if you know the SSID, have the WPA2 key and are on the MAC ACL you can pull an IP address however the ip address is being assigned from the router downstairs (192.168.2.x address) and you cannot get out to the internet you can only login to the router downstairs to configure it.

The Actiontec downstairs is set to issue 192.168.2.x addresses. It shows only that my wife is connected to it via ethernet. wireless is disabled on this router.

Basically its a mess at this point and I am lost as to what to do next aside from just running about 50 ft of cat 6a (got to make sure its future proof) through the hot fricken attic :P . Any help is appriciated.
