I've been a long time customer of 7 years in Chicago.
Service wise Speakeasy is great but I really feel that technology has caught up with the ISP and they're not giving in.
I'm the average consumer, a family using the internet for surfing, netflix, and gaming. Web surfing is fine at 1.5/384, gaming at times can be a little lagging, but streaming is the pain point. With Netflix I get 1 or 2 bars out of 4, that means my video quality ranges from acceptable to youtube like which is like watching your VCR on your HDTV. Being a Direct TV customer as well they provide an on-demand service, I havent even tried to connect it of how Netflix looks.
Called the sales department, I was told that I could double my speeds, great the catch is my bill would double. This is so frustrating knowing that I would have to pay small business rates to get a what anyone with a cable modem gets.
Speakeasy times are tough if you think us consumers are willing to pay nearly $1000 a year for internet service only your sadly mistaken. Its time to switch to either a reasonable priced DSL provider or just scratch everything and go with a Cable TV and ISP provider. |
