| [FireFox] NoScript and Firefox 3.5
I upgraded to version 3.5 of Firefox. NoScript is no longer appearing in the toolbar. I disabled all other extensions and also tried uninstalling and reinstalling NoScript. I am at a loss as to what has happened, and more importantly, how to fix the problem. --

| reply to skj I've never had a NoScript icon on my toolbar. Just the default icon at the bottom right corner of of the status bar.
So I'd assume having an icon on the toolbar is something you customized from 'view/toolbars/customize' by dragging the icon onto the toolbar, and should be the way you can get it there again. |

I don't have any icon showing. In other words, the default icon is missing at the bottom right corner of the tool bar. I have no way to change the settings on a page.

Tools/Add-ons/NoScript/Options/Disable-- restart Firefox, then re-enable NoScript.
Tools/Add-ons/NoScript/Options/Reset-- then restart Firefox (though I'd recommend you back-up your profile before trying that one).
If neither of those work, you can try creating an entirely new profile (after backing-up your old one first, of course):

1 edit | reply to skj It sounds like the localstore.rdf file has become corrupted.
Did you open your Profile Folder and move the localstore.rdf file to the desktop and then restart Fx? You will lose all of your toolbar and status bar customizations and have to redo them but if the Noscript Buttons are showing up that was the issue. The install.rdf file is recreated on started Fx.
Might ye be using an extension named Organize Statusbar?? This is used to move, hide, or show items in the statusbar.
Edit. Corrected name to show localstore.rdf NOT install.rdf |

| I have not tried the install.rdf "fix" yet. I don't have any special toolbar or status bar customizations. Does it affect the Bookmarks?
No, I am not using the Organize Statusbar extension. --

| reply to skj I created a new profile and have the same problem. Now, none of the add-ons are appearing such Show IP. I reset the .rdf file by using the Safe Mode method described here: »kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf. Neither of these "fixes" have had any affect on showing anything in the status bar. --

| Pretty weird deal.
You can check 'about:config' for these two settings:
noscript.statusIcon = true noscript.toolbarToggle = 3
Beyond that, there's always the option to completely uninstall Firefox (including profiles), then reinstall. You can then pull your bookmarks and user.js file from your backed-up profile, but you'll have to reinstall all your extensions and themes, and redo any other customizations you've made.
That's a last-ditch solution if you run out of other things to try. |

Where do you find the 'about:config' for NoScript? |

| The problem may not be only with FF. I recently installed a new version of ZoneAlarm. Looked OK after I installed it, but now the control interface on it is blank. Could be related. --

| reply to skj The Solution
Found a fix. It apparently related to the Microsoft .NET Framework.
After researching this issue on Google I found mention of Microsoft .NET Framework. There was a discussion of how Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1 was added to FF by a Microsoft update. I did not see it in my add-ons, but what I did was install it. After installing it the NoScript icon appeared in the status bar. I have since uninstalled the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1 add-on and the icon is still there. --
