| Teksavvy screws current MLPPP users
My DSL connection failed this morning, mysteriously, and I only discovered why by calling tech support: Teksavvy has disabled MLPPP for all current customers and forces them to change to a more expensive plan with a newly created account, i.e. you lose your email address and have to reconfigure every network you have set up to use MLPPP. (Nowhere in this notification does it say you MUST change your account to continue to use MLPPP - they just let your login mysteriously fail if you don't.)
Here's the mealy-mouthed email they sent out 'explaining' the situation:
>>Over the last month we have been testing new equipment at our main point of presence that would allow us to extend MLPPP offerings into an officially supported product. The tests have been successful and we are happy to announce that you can now purchase access to our MLPPP network for $4 per month.>>
Nice how they say you 'can now purchase access to our MLPPP' instead of 'YOU MUST NOW PURCHASE ACCESS TO OUR MLPPP OR YOU CONNECTION WILL MYSTERIOUSLY FAIL'. |

you lose your email address Not true...
Where have you been for the last while? The only thing that changes is the "realm" so userid@wiredhighspeed for Premium or userid@copperdsl for Unlimited?
Seriously there have been pages and pages of this for almost two months. -- Working to bring you closer to a Bell and Rogers free household. |

| reply to irate haha yes... screwing customers... thats exactly what teksavvy does
this is the first month that teksavvy is actually offering mlppp as a service, and yes there's a fee, and yes you have to sign up for it.
if it happened to work for you for the last ~year, then congratulations, but it was not an officially supported or even offered service |

| reply to irate Poor reading comprehension is poor. You think it was going to be free while they start charging $4/month for it as an 'officially supported product'. What is the $4 for in your twisted logic?
If you paid attention here instead just dropping in to complain, you'd even have seen the discussion that happened when this was proposed (that actually affected the offering) and the many discussions until and after it was officially announced.
Also, e-mails don't change, just PPPoE login. |

| reply to irate Not that I should be feeding the trolls but...
You Don't lose your email address if you convert over to the MLPPP realm.
I for one am glad they decided to move it to a supported service vs. just leaving it out there for people to screw up with.
Enjoy, Good work TSI! Keep it up! |

| reply to irate My internet at home does not work at this time.
I have asked TSI to get an MLPPP account this week and they sent me my login info and the realm was still @teksavvy.com
I have tried to reconnect with and without MLPPP enabled.
Should I try a different realm ? (I'm using premium). If so, what are the exact realms ?
Do they block the previous non-MLPPP realm ?
Thansk,
Chandi |

| reply to irate Hi,
If you're on premium it would be @wiredhighspeed.com, so try substituting that and see if it works!

Regards, Jason Now that the routing for Unlimited/Premium are the same (although presumably Premium will eventually be renamed since it's no longer premium), does it still make sense to have different realms? If a customer should be billed for overage seems to be an account-level thing that doesn't require a different realm. |

MLPPP Was never offered before it was just something someone asked them to turn on one day and it worked and people realized it bypassed the throttling.
Now that it is a supported service there is a $4 fee to use it.
Whats the issue? |

I could still do load balancing on my two lines and not pay the $4 but I CHOOSE to pay the $4. no one forced me into it. |

If it was Bell's plan to stifle others while they get back on the upgrade horse after falling so far behind then they have likely succeeded at least on some level. I don't know why they pick fights with the small guys. I guess when that's the only ones you can pick on that's what you do. They should go pick on somebody their own size. -- TSI Marc - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |

However when Rogers finally rolls out DOCSIS3 they will have to compete on speed and bandwith and at that's when you guys will get the opportunity to shine again, because Bhell will be too busy fighting them again.
For the record, I applaud you guys for officially supporting MLPPP, $4 is fine by me, and I would get onto bigger and better things like FTTH as soon as you can. -- Working to bring you closer to a Bell and Rogers free household. |

Once a year I put in my request to TSI to see if there are remotes near by and once a year bell looks at my line and drops me profile below 3mbit and then I have to find someone named DP to fix it for me.
Some day I shall get faster, I hope with the new service contract Bell got with the area it will improve. |

I think it's safe to say that we have all revived a technology that was all but dead and forgotten. now stay tuned for the after show: what will the CRTC do? -- TSI Marc - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |

The $4 is for MLPPP you can choose whether you want Static IP at no extra charge or stick with PPPOE |

| reply to IamGuru Alternatively, they could change "Unlimited" to "Premium Unlimited"
Both service would then be "Premium", which compared to Bell, they are!
Also, TekSavvy could start offering ISDN, that wouldn't be throttled either |
