Anyway, I'm sure it's just an advertising campaign....hopefully it's successful and they expand this as a default in all territories for all speeds. |

| I apologize if it isn't new. I haven't seen anywhere that you could call them and get DSL without jumping throught the hoops of ordering a phone line and then canceling it. |

How much is the tax? I think this has been discussed before, IIR, the tax is very low or nothing as the product is unregulated... it may have state sales tax in some areas... I think people who posted their bills had less than $2 in taxes on the naked dsl. -- DSLr Mafia Member. |

  Dezbend Premium,MVM join:2001-04-20 | reply to Carl Jr you should be able to order it without the hoops now (new as of this month) in all legacy-Embarq markets. -- DSLr Mafia Member. |

| reply to Carl Jr I signed up last week using the number listed on that website. I tried several times over the last 2 years to get Dry DSL here and they refused to offer it . I am glad to see they now are offering it to everyone. DSL was connected this week and it is working well. -- SERO Sprint Cellular Service |

Looks pretty similar, doesn't it? Interesting thing though, Embarq has it marked as a limited time deal but CenturyTel's isn't and has been up for a long time now.

| reply to Carl Jr Why the taxes? Cox does not charge any, its included in the price.
I called today and they wanted $39.99 for 10meg. Great so when they hooked me in, they said only 5m was available at my house for the same price, so I said good bye. Embarq is still not ready for prime time and I'll stick with Cox. |

Unless, of course, they were quoting you the bundled price (far more likely). |

| reply to Carl Jr Received a mailer today, announcing "Pure broadband' w/out a phone line. Now, I've given Embarq many opportunities' to impress and sell me on their products, but yet again, Embarq disappoints. Although it's a good deal, 1-year commitment, I really don't know much about it, and hear many opinions, cable vs DSL, so I'm not completely sold. I thought perhaps I could try it out, say 30-days, and keep my service w/the cable company, and test the waters. However, Embarq does not offer any type of 30-day trial. I called and the rep was very nice and explained that once you have it, and decide it's not all that, you will be required to pay an early cancellation fee. Simply because it's a big deal to set-up on their end. Once again, Embarq misses the point. |

@cox.net
| reply to Hazy Arc I pay 54.99 for Cox 10 meg.
Embarq offered 39.99 for 10 meg under the year promo, but can't deliver 10 meg. The cancellation fee is stupid since Cox is pay as you go with no contact or termination fees.
It looks like Embarq is not comfortable with the quality of service, hence the cancellation fee. |

| reply to Carl Jr regards to me me me. It seems as though you keep comparing apples to oranges. Not every single company are gonna have the same policies. Thats why there is DSL companies and Cable companies. Seems as though you have an issue with that. As far as DSL the 1 year term has been around at most companies. Bellsouth At&T and Embarq. |
